Okay, so that went so much better than I had imagined it could have gone.

Yes, lots of things wrong with the story were pointed out to me. Many of these were not surprising, which is good because it says my instincts are solid.

I’m just surprised–and heartened–that people found so much that worked in the story.*

If I take nothing else from Clarion West–and I’m already taking far more–the knowledge that I can, in fact, hammer out a real, working draft of a story in less than a week is incredible. That bit of information there is enough to bolster my confidence… and get me off my lazy ass.

Clarion West is one of the best things I’ve done.

*They liked the talking dog! And the sex scene worked for people!
